 ecent developments including inspiring actions by 
  local people\, NGOs  and  volunteers from all  ov
 er the world. There will also be a  screening of a
 nd introduction to clips from “Janus’ Legacy: Refu
 gee Passage to Europe” (Anti-Racist Observator\, U
 niversity of the Aegean\, dir: Dimitris Papageorgi
 ou & Alexandros Spathis).\n\nDIMITRIS BALLAS is As
 sociate Professor in the Department of Geography a
 t the University of the Aegean (Lesvos island camp
 us). In September 2017\, he will join the Faculty 
 of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen
  to take up a chair in Economic Geography. He was 
 also as a Senior Lecturer at the University of She
 ffield and a visiting academic at Harvard Universi
 ty\, the International Institute for Applied Syste
 ms Analysis (Austria) and Ritsumeikan University (
 Japan). His most recent published work is ‘The Hum
 an Atlas of Europe: a continent united in diversit
 y’ (2017\, Policy Press\, co-authored with Danny D
 orling and Benjamin Hennig).\n\nVICKY YIAGOPOULOU 
 has been volunteering as a Community Manager at th
 e Office of Displaced Designers\, Mytilene\, Lesvo
 s island\, where she has recently been involved in
  workshops aimed at bringing together the local co
 mmunity and refugees. She is a firm believer in em
 powering people and communities through education 
 and skills sharing. She holds an MA in Librariansh
 ip from the University of Sheffield\, an MA in Com
 munications Studies from the University of Leeds a
 nd a first degree (Ptychion) in Journalism and Mas
 s Communication from Aristotle University of Thess
