DESCRIPTION:Lp-cohomology is a quantitative version of cohomol
ogy of topological spaces\, well suited for a geom
etric study of noncompact spaces and groups. It ha
s been used with partial success in connection wit
h problems in high-dimensional topology (Singer
9\;s conjecture on the Euler characteristic of asp
herical manifolds)\, low-dimensional topology (Can
non'\;s conjecture on groups whose boundary is
a 2-sphere)\, Riemannian geometry (optimal curvatu
re pinching) and coarse geometry (hyperbolic local
ly compact groups\, coarse embeddings between nilp
otent or hyperbolic groups). The course will provi
de background on these problems and be as self-con
tained as possible.
Duration: 9 lec
tures.
