DESCRIPTION:Venkatesh (Venky) Narayanamurti is the Benjamin Pe
 irce Research Professor of Technology and Public P
 olicy at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Eng
 ineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and Harvard K
 ennedy School (HKS). From 2009 to 2015\, he served
  as the Director of the Science\, Technology and P
 ublic Policy Program at the Belfer Center for Scie
 nce and International Affairs at the HKS. He was f
 ormerly the John L. Armstrong Professor and Foundi
 ng Dean of the SEAS and Dean of Physical Sciences 
 at Harvard. He has served on numerous advisory boa
 rds of the federal government\, research universit
 ies and industry including service as the Foreign 
 Secretary of the National Academy of Engineering f
 rom 2011 to 2015. He is the author of more than 24
 0 papers in different areas of condensed matter\, 
 applied physics and science and technology policy.
  He lectures widely on solid state\, computer\, an
 d communication technologies\, energy technology i
 nnovation\, and on the management of science\, tec
 hnology and research universities.
