DESCRIPTION:The first part of the talk will focus on the Melt
 Electrospinning Writing process\, an emerging 3D p
rinting technology that utilizes polymer melts for
the fabrication of biomaterial scaffolds with cel
 lular relevant geometrical features (10 - 50 μm) t
hat are unattainable with current 3D printing tech
nologies. Using immunofluorescent staining and con
focal microscopy\, detailed cell shape characteriz
ation is performed by detecting and quantifying im
portant cell morphometry features. Machine learni
ng algorithms are used for important feature extra
ction and cell shape classification tasks. These f
 undamental cell-scaffold dimensional metrology stu
dies allow us to inform our fabrication process an
d engineer fibrous microenvironments that promote
 a homogeneous cell population.
