DESCRIPTION:We expect any reasonable theory to have group velocities small
 er than one.  Any theory violating this condition should\, at the very lea
 st\, be heavily scrutinized\, if not outright rejected.  Yet\, such superl
 uminal Effective Field Theories (EFTs) are of current research interest\, 
 ranging from the speculative (massive GR/DGP/Galileons) to the foundationa
 l (QED).  In this talk I will discuss how these effects arise in different
  scenarios and analyze their consequences from an EFT perspective\, demons
 trating how their phenomenology can qualitatively differ.  As a bonus\, so
 me fascinating black hole physics will be encountered along the way.\n
