control measures - Ciara Dangerfield\, Chris Gilligan Lab

DESCRIPTION:Plant diseases result in significant economic and environmenta
l damage\, therefore control measures are often deployed to try to minimis
e such impacts. However\, due to the uncertainty in the future disease\, c
ombined with the large sunk costs of disease control it can be beneficial
to wait and learn more about the epidemic before deploying control measure
 s. In this talk I will show how mathematical modelling techniques can be u
sed to determine the optimal time at which control measures should be depl
oyed\, given the uncertainty in the future spread of the disease.
