DESCRIPTION:Manjusha Thorpe\, a PhD student at Cambridge Unive
 rsity’s Centre for Technology Management and a mem
 ber of the Manufacturing Industry Education Resear
 ch Group (MIERG)\, is going to share her research 
 and thoughts about the scale up of innovative proc
 ess technologies.\n\nManjusha studied both chemica
 l engineering and Japanese as an undergraduate and
  before joining the IfM\, she worked in industry f
 or 14 years in Australia\, Japan\, Indonesia and S
 ingapore. One of Manjusha's more recent achievemen
 ts was successfully starting up and managing the S
 ingapore operation of a global consulting company 
 dedicated to benchmarking the competitiveness of c
 apital projects executed by the oil\, gas\, chemic
 al\, pharmaceutical and mining industries. Manjush
 a’s work focuses on scale up\, which is an integra
 l component of the evolution of the process indust
 ry and a component that is fraught with difficulti
 es. Her work identifies the main challenges that a
 re encountered during scale up and ways in which t
 hese are overcome\, particularly from a capabiliti
 es perspective.
