perfused biological tissue - Maciej Stanczyk\, Pol

DESCRIPTION:The determination of temperature fields in perfuse
d tissues is an important aspect of hyperthermia t
reatment planning. The heat transfer process is de
pendent to a large degree on the blood circulation
in the area of interest. During the seminar\, two
numerical methods of approach to this problem wil
l be presented: the DIVA (DIscrete Vessel Analysis
) system developed at University of Utrecht and th
e alternative method developed by the author. The
basic assumptions underlying the methods will be g
iven\, the similarities\, differences and limitati
ons will be highlighted and\, finally\, some resul
ts of the test simulation conduced with both metho
 ds will be compared.
