DESCRIPTION:Electron-electron interaction effects in one-dimen
sional quantum wires are\nmuch less well understoo
d than interactions in zero- or two-dimensional\ns
ystems. One effect in particular that continues t
o attract interest is the\n`0.7 Structure'. I will
briefly discuss the 0.7 Structure\, before presen
ting\nseveral other new interaction effects in GaA
 s/AlGaAs quantum wires\,\noccurring in high in-pla
ne magnetic fields\, and at zero magnetic field. I
\nwill then explain how these effects relate to ea
chother\, and how they may\nhelp to explain the or
 igin of the 0.7 Structure.\n
