DESCRIPTION:(Free for members\, £2 for non-members)\n\nThe anc
ient geometry of Euclid and its curved-space gener
alizations due to Gauss and Riemann are built upon
a notion of (infinitesimal) distance. Somewhat le
ss attention has been paid to the slightly more ge
neral geometry based simply upon the local notion
of angle\, referred to as conformal geometry. It i
nvolves many elegant theorems\, and has direct app
lications to Einstein’s special relativity and to
Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory. It is also centr
al to a new view of the cosmological universe.
