DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:*\nThe talk discusses a model called SAP
 PhIRE. This model was originally created to model 
 causality and explain how systems work. However\, 
 as it developed it proved possible to integrate ma
 ny current models. This\nresearch has provided ins
 ights into how current ways of designing might be 
 improved and\, in particular\, it has supported th
 e development of new methods for supporting biomim
 etic ideation and creativity.\n\nThe talk will als
 o touch on other research in the IdeasLab at the I
 ndian Institute of Science including knowledge man
 agement\, ecodesign\, virtual reality for assembly
 \, and design for emotions.\n\n*About the speaker:
 *\nAmaresh Chakrabarti completed a Ph.D at the EDC
  20 years ago (1992) before joining Centre for Pro
 duct Design and Manufacturing (CPDM) at the Indian
  Institute of Science in Bangalore. He is the foun
 der and co-ordiantor of the IDeas Lab - a research
  team within the CPDM which has a broad research f
 ocus including issues relating to design creativit
 y\, design methodology\, sustainability\, collabor
 ative innovation\, knowledge and life cycle manage
 ment.
