DESCRIPTION:The internationally acclaimed\, American/British p
 oet\, Anne Stevenson (1933-present)\, has been des
 cribed by Andrew Motion as ‘one of the most remark
 able poetic voices to have emerged on either side 
 of the Atlantic in the last fifty years.’  This ta
 lk will describe some of the main themes and major
  qualities pertaining to that voice\; elaborate on
  the interplay between the imaginary and the real 
 in her poetry\; and illustrate the musicality and 
 craftsmanship Stevenson demonstrates in her detail
 ed depiction of the world about her. Copies of the
  poems to be discussed will be made available.
