DESCRIPTION:Information causality is a physical principle whic
 h states that it is the sender\, not the receiver\
 , who decides what the message is about. After bei
 ng expressed more formally it can be shown to hold
  in both classical and quantum information theory.
  However\, if quantum mechanics were even a little
  more non-local this principle would be violated. 
  The main aim of finding operational principles li
 ke information causality that limit the nonlocal c
 orrelations allowed by probabilistic theories is t
 hat they help to explain  the phenomenon of non-lo
 cality without referring to the mathematical struc
 ture of any particular theory. This is the first s
 tep to deriving quantum mechanics from principles 
 which are not just about Hilbert space but are mea
 ningful. Furthermore\, operational principles are 
 quite useful for more practical task of bounding t
 he performance of various information processing p
 rotocols.\nIn this talk I introduce information ca
 usality and show how it can be derived from the pr
 operties of mutual information. I also give reason
 s why one does not have to derive it and can simpl
 y assume it. Then I describe the consequences of t
 his principle for acceptable probability distribut
 ions.\n
