DESCRIPTION:We were inspired by the power of enzymes to carry out molecula
 r recognition and \ncatalysis under mild conditions\, and wanted to mimic 
 their abilities using synthetic \nmolecules. We soon realised that the cla
 ssic design and build approach of synthetic \nchemistry didn’t work for 
 us so we invented an approach that is reminiscent of the immune \nsystem i
 n which the most successful but unpredictable structures are amplified. Wh
 ile we \nnever achieved great catalysis we did discover astonishing new st
 ructures and behaviours \nand unexpected potential applications. \n\nTalks
  are priced at £4 for non-Scientific Society members. Scientific Society 
 members will have free access to all our talks. Lifetime membership costs 
 £15 and gives free access to all talks\, members-only events and priority
  access to oversubscribed SciSoc events.
