DESCRIPTION:Vetulonia\, one of the main cities of ancient Etru
ria\, has attracted archaeologists’ interest since
the 1800s. However\, its territory also represent
s an important source of information that allows u
s to reconstruct what happened in the area surroun
ding the main city\, in a continuous reciprocal re
lationship. In fact\, the occupation and exploitat
ion of peripheral areas facilitated the rapid deve
lopment of Vetulonia. The talk will aim to trace t
he events affecting secondary settlements\, from t
he first Etruscan evidence to the 4th century B.C.
\, using material culture as the basis for investi
gation\, in combination with the distribution of s
 ites and their economic function.
