SUMMARY:A Bayesian nonrandom walk through the world of the
queues - Carmen Armero\, University of Valencia

DESCRIPTION:Queueing systems are the natural probabilistic mod
els when dealing with scenarios characterized by c
ongestion and jams. Most of the scientific effort
in this field has been devoted to the construction
of models and the study of its mathematical prope
rties and very little attention has been devoted t
o the statistical analysis of queueing systems. Th
is talk is about Bayesian statistics in queues. Th
e general Bayesian statistical approach is present
ed and some special features of the Bayesian reaso
ning in queues are discussed: report of probabilit
ies of direct interest\, prediction in equilibrium
\, design\, prior distribution\, and combination o
f different sources of uncertainty.
