DESCRIPTION:A hyperuniform system can be isotropic and locally
  disorderd\, like a liquid\, but at large scales i
t becomes homogeneous\, like a crystal. This combi
nation endows hyperuniform materials with unique p
hysical properties. At the same time\, the concept
  provides interdisciplinary challenges. This talk
presents an overview of at least some recent progr
ess from physics and mathematics\, e.g.\, on how t
o detect hyperuniformity\, what fluctuations prese
rve or destroy hyperuniformity\, and what might di
stinguish different types of hyperuniform disorder
  in the thermodynamic limit.
