DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nQuantitative investment firms attempt
to navigate through large amounts of data in orde
r to identify patterns and predict whether an asse
t is going up or down in value over a specified pe
riod of time. They employ various mathematical and
statistical models to come up with efficient trad
ing strategies tailored for a particular market or
  asset class.\n\nData collection\, signal processi
ng\, risk management and order execution must be s
 upported by state-of-the-art\, impeccable technolo
gy. Staying ahead of competitors is an on-going ch
allenge in this industry\, particularly in modern
assets such as crypto currencies which are riskier
but can offer higher returns.\n\nIn this talk we
will explore the general structure of GSA and the
various teams that make up technology and research
. We will also have a high-level overview of the l
ife cycle of an order\, covering some of the diffe
rent stages it follows from idea to actual market
 execution.\n\nSpeaker:\n\nMihai Enache earned his
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from The Uni
versity of Edinburgh in 2019. He then worked at Bl
oomberg until September 2021. Following this\, he
pursued an MPhil in Advanced Computer Science at t
he University of Cambridge from 2021 to 2022. He j
oined GSA in July 2022 and has been working in the
Execution Services Group (ESG) as a software deve
loper since then. During his undergraduate studies
\, he focused primarily on data science\, but in r
ecent years\, he has shifted towards software engi
neering and computer architecture. His main hobbie
s include playing chess and running\, with the rou
te from Cambridge to Grantchester meadows being am
 ong his favourites.\n\nAbout GSA:\n\nGSA Capital i
s a multi-award winning investment manager that ha
s been delivering exceptional results for over 15
years. With offices in London and New York\, GSA C
apital combines a world-class proprietary platform
with innovative thinking to develop and deploy sy
 stematic and process-driven investment strategies
across all asset classes\, geographies and timesca
les.\n\nAudience:\n\nWe welcome students of all ac
ademic levels from the Computer Science\, Engineer
ing\, Mathematics\, Statistics and any other close
ly related disciplines. The event will start with
a short presentation followed by informal chats wi
th representatives from GSA over food and drinks.\
