DESCRIPTION:In this talk Dr Nathaniel Read will outline why we
need nuclear energy to achieve net zero and discu
ss frequently-raised issues such as safety\, waste
\, cost and sustainability. The talk will also cov
er the possible role of ‘advanced nuclear’ and whe
re fusion might fit in.\n\nDr Nathaniel Read is a
research associate in Nuclear Reactor Safety Analy
sis in the Nuclear Energy Group at the Department
of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. His
primary research interests are in safety assessme
nt methods for nuclear systems and nuclear space p
