DESCRIPTION:The *Global Epistemological Politics of Religion* 
 research group explores concepts and debates infor
 ming contemporary social and political theory and 
 practice concerning the dynamics and relations bet
 ween religion\, politics and order. Through the de
 tailed study of various cases we explore the histo
 ries and political logics of various attempts to c
 onceptualise and institutionalise social\, religio
 us and cultural difference\, including the rule of
  law\, the practices of knowledge and non-knowledg
 e\, and the recognition and protection of religiou
 s minorities.\n\nQuestions to be discussed include
 : How does modern law and political practice regul
 ate the spaces within which individuals and groups
  live out their cultural and religious lives? What
  are the histories and politics of modern construc
 ts of religion in relation to the nation\, technol
 ogy and across different networks? The group is ex
 plicitly interdisciplinary drawing social and poli
 tical theory\, global politics\, anthropology\, hi
 story\, and sociology of religion\, and law.\n\nTh
