DESCRIPTION:Wiener–Hopf matrix equations frequently feature in
problems of acoustic scattering and bending of so
lid structures wherein mixed boundary conditions a
ppear. These equations are solved by way of factor
ising the matrix kernel. However\, no systematic p
rocedures for the factorisation of such matrix ker
nels exist. Instead\, researchers have spent much
time and effort looking at special cases. One such
example is where the kernel is of Khrapkov–Daniel
e form\; an exact factorisation can then be obtain
ed.\n\nThis talk will present a problem of acousti
c scattering off a right-angled wedge and formulat
e the associated Wiener–Hopf matrix equation. It w
ill be shown that the matrix kernel is\, after som
e manipulation\, of Khrapkov–Daniele form. We will
outline the process of factorising this kernel. I
f time permits\, we may briefly discuss some relat
ed problems.
