DESCRIPTION:Much exciting research work takes place in the are
a of compiling Haskell: two recent examples are Ne
il Mitchell's Supero compiler and Dana Xu's Extend
ed Static Checking. However\, this work is not alw
ays available for users of those languages to use
due to the difficulty of distributing it: users mu
st be able to download and build a customized vers
ion of a modern Haskell compiler like the Glasgow
Haskell Compiler. The motivation for dynamically l
oaded compiler plugins is to ease\, not only the d
istribution\, but also the development process for
novel compiler extensions such as these.\n\nThis
talk does not claim to present novel research resu
lts\, but is rather a light introduction to the co
nstruction of a plugin compiler pass from the pers
pective of a user of that compiler.\n
