DESCRIPTION:In recent decades\, computers have dramatically ch
anged our lives and how we interact with the world
. The majority of mental health research\, however
\, still relies on structured interviews and paper
-based questionnaires and scales to measure mental
disorders. These are often inefficient\, lengthy\
, time consuming\, and frequently require a clinic
al rater.\n\nThis talk will focus on the role of c
omputers in the assessment of mental health. Speci
al attention will be given to how we can use moder
n computer power to improve the efficacy of mental
health assessment. The basic concepts and benefit
s of computerized adaptive testing will be explain
ed followed by a demonstration of a simple online
prototype platform for adaptive assessment of sele
 cted mental health conditions.\n
