DESCRIPTION:Computers offer valuable assistance to people with
  physical disabilities. \nHowever designing human-
 computer interfaces for these users is complicated
 . \nThe range of abilities is more diverse than fo
 r able-bodied users\, which makes analytical model
 ling harder. Practical user trials are also diffic
 ult and time consuming. We are developing a simula
 tor to help with the evaluation of assistive inter
 faces. It can predict the likely interaction patte
 rns when undertaking a task using a variety of inp
 ut devices\, and estimate the time to complete the
  task in the presence of different disabilities an
 d for different levels of skill.\n \nThe simulator
  is developed according to the concept of Model Hu
 man Processor. It consists of a Perception model\,
  a Cognitive model and a Motor-Behaviour Model. Th
 e perception model simulates the phenomenon of vis
 ual perception (like focussing and shifting attent
 ion). It can reproduce the results of previous exp
 eriments on visual perception in the context of Hu
 man-Computer Interaction and can also simulate the
  effects of different visual impairments on intera
 ction. The cognitive model uses CPM-GOMS model to 
 simulate expert performance. It also has a novel a
 nd easy-to-use module to simulate performance of n
 ovices based on the concept of dual-space model. F
 inally the motor-behaviour model is developed by s
 tatistical analysis of cursor traces from motor-im
 paired users. We have already used this simulator 
 to design and evaluate a new interaction technique
  (a single-switch scanning approach based on clust
 ering screen objects) of assistive interfaces.\n
