DESCRIPTION:Dr Tim Witney leads the Molecular Imaging Group at
University College London’s Centre for Advanced B
iomedical Imaging. His research is concerned with
the development of next generation tools for cance
 r diagnosis\, monitoring of therapeutic response a
nd detection of drug resistance. Tim obtained his
PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambrid
ge in 2010\, where he worked in the laboratory of
Prof. Kevin Brindle on dynamic nuclear polarizatio
n as a novel method for detecting tumour response
to therapy. In 2010 Tim joined the laboratory of P
rof. Eric Aboagye at Imperial as a Postdoctoral Re
search Associate\, developing novel positron emiss
ion tomography radiotracers for cancer imaging\, b
efore moving to Stanford University in 2013 to wor
k under Prof. Sanjiv Sam Gambhir as a postdoctoral
Research Scholar. In 2015 he returned to the UK u
nder a UCL Excellence Fellowship before being awar
ded the Sir Henry Dale Fellowship that same year t
o set up his laboratory. He will move to King’s Co
llege London in October 2018 as a Senior Lecturer
 in Molecular Imaging. \n\n
