DESCRIPTION:In the talk I will explain a combinatorial/integra
ble systems model for quantum cohomology of Grassm
annians and then connect it with the action of som
e DAHA at roots of unity. The double affine Hecke
algebras (DAHA) were introduced by Cherednik in th
e context of (and to solve) the MacDonald constant
term conjecture for generalized symmetric functio
ns. I will briefly recall the definition of this a
lgebra\, give a topological motivation and then de
scribe the connection to the cohomology rings. Via
a theorem of Witten our result confirms a philoso
phy of Cherednik that Verlinde algebras should be
modules \nfor double affine Hecke algebras.\n
