How Do We Know the Structure of the Earth's Core–Mantle Boundary?
- 👤 Speaker: Michael Clark, Department of Earth Sciences
- 📅 Date & Time: Thursday 19 February 2026, 13:00 - 14:00
- 📍 Venue: Richard King room, Darwin College
Abstract
This talk will explore how earthquakes act as natural probes of the Earth’s interior, allowing us to investigate regions far beyond the reach of drilling. By analysing seismic waves that travel along the boundary between the Earth’s mantle and core, we can infer key properties of the deep Earth.
Series This talk is part of the Darwin College Science Seminars series.
