This talk explores my recent work aimed at understanding earthquake behaviour and tectonic processes on faults — both on Earth and on the Moon — using seismic waveforms. We’ll begin deep within subducted slabs, looking at how these intermediate- and deep-focus earthquakes compare with their shallow crustal counterparts. From there, we’ll take a detour to the Moon to ask how lunar seismicity — particularly deep moonquakes — parallels what we observe on Earth. Returning home, we’ll consider how often earthquakes occur in California before concluding with an overview of my ongoing research at the Bullard Laboratories. This talk offers a wide-ranging view of seismic processes on Earth and the Moon — with, hopefully, something of interest for everyone.
