BID - Quantum field theory with boundaries, impurities, and defects

Symmetries give powerful non-perturbative constraints on qunatum dynamics. In this talk I explain how symmetry can act on extended dynamical defects, and how many well appreciated concepts, such as ‘t Hooft anomalies, extend to such setup and provide novel constraints for defect RG flows. I will then discuss families of symmetry-breaking defects, and explain how bulk ‘t Hooft anomalies can influence their topological properties in a nontrivial manner. Based on https://arxiv.org/pdf/2412.18652 ;andhttps://arxiv.org/pdf/2507.15466 ;and ongoing work.
