BID - Quantum field theory with boundaries, impurities, and defects

In this talk I will give a brief review of symmetric orbifolds in two dimensional conformal field theories. I will describe the topological defect lines associated with (non)invertible symmetries and some of their properties in these theories. I will discuss which of these TDL survive deformation of the symmetric orbifold by marginal deformations in the twisted sector. Some applications to holography will be discussed.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
