It’s hard to believe it has already been a week since “Why Her?” came to an end! Where does the time go? To help fill your hours with your next favorite legal drama, here’s a list of great shows similar in vein, style, or substance to “Why Her?” on DramaCool– take a look below!

1. “A New Leaf”

The highly underrated Kim Myung Min stars in this great legal drama about how a heart shark of a lawyer ends up joining the good fight. Kim Seok Joo (Kim Myung Min) is a hotshot corporate lawyer with all the hallmarks of success in his profession. Ice-cold and whip-smart, he breezes through trials without any regard for justice, but when Seok Joo gets into an accident and loses his memory, he finds himself having to relearn his own life from scratch and in doing so, turn over a new leaf.

The man who played foul in life and law becomes a man who calls people out on doing either, which does not please his law firm. As Seok Joo attempts to turn over a new leaf, will his old life drag him back down again on Kepala Bergetar?

Why you’ll love it:

Seok Joo’s character is very similar to Soo Jae’s (Seo Hyun Jin’s) in that they’re both ridiculously smart and not above playing dirty to get the job done. But their personalities are quite a bit different. Soo Jae prowls on the offensive, whereas Seok Joo is content to sit and wait while people play into his hands. And that isn’t all! The beautiful Park Min Young shines as Lee Ji Yoon, the newbie intern who ends up becoming Seok Joo’s right-hand. The drama isn’t too huge on the romance, but the chemistry between the two is palpable!

2. “Law School”

Here’s another Kim Myung Min drama because he’s just too good! He goes from amnesiac lawyer to law professor-turned-murder suspect in this gripping legal mystery about the inner workings of a prestigious law school.

Han Gook University Law School is the law school most would-be lawyers and judges try to get into. The professors are well-connected, wealthy, and in the case of Yang Jong Hoon (Kim Myung Min), absolutely brilliant–which is why the whole school is rocked to the core when the director (Ahn Nae Sang) is found dead in his own office in the middle of a student mock trial with evident signs of homicide. The main suspect? The professor who saw him last: Yang Jong Hoon.

But there’s more to the law school than it seems. The interrupted student mock trial was a major event where the top students of the year compete with each other to impress the professors and a roster of representatives from major law firms. And every one of these students has a secret that they just might be willing to kill for prize of lottery sambad.

Why you’ll love it:

There’s a great who-dunnit, an ensemble cast, and Kim Myung Min’s wonderful, deep voice. What more could you ask for? “Law School” seems to be a riff on “How to Get Away with Murder” at first, but it quickly distinguishes itself. Amidst all the machinations and murder, there’s friendship, trust, and genuine camaraderie.

3. “I Hear Your Voice”

There’s no drama that “Why Her?” is closest to in set-up than the dearly-loved “I Hear Your Voice.” It’s a classic, and for good reason for dramacool!

Park Soo Ha (Lee Jong Suk) is a high school senior whose maturity extends far beyond that of his peers. The reason? Soo Ha has the unusual ability to read people’s minds when he looks them in the eye, a talent he gained when he witnessed his father’s murder 10 years ago at the hands of Min Joong Kook (Jung Woong In). The murder was initially dismissed as an accident until Jang Hye Seong (Kim So Hyun), a high school girl at the time, bravely stepped forward despite Min Joong Kook’s threats and testified to witnessing the murder. Min Joong Kook is locked away, screaming his revenge as young Soo Ha vows to protect Hye Seong from Min Joong Kook’s inevitable vengeance.

In the present, Min Joong Kook’s release date approaches and Soo Ha continues to search for Hye Seong, only for a chance meeting to push them together. Only, Hye Seong (Lee Bo Young) is no longer the girl he remembers but a jaded public defender who cares more about getting a paycheck than the plight of those she represents. She finds Soo Ha unbearably naive and hates herself for even having testified all those years ago because it made her a target. Disappointed in who she’s become, Soo Ha nevertheless upholds his vow to protect her. But Min Joong Kook has had 10 years to plot his vengeance, and no one, not even Soo Ha, might be able to predict what’s coming.

Why you’ll love it:

Every inch of this show is honestly fantastic from the plot, to the side characters, to everyone getting satisfying character arcs and the villain’s motivation. Plus, “I Hear Your Voice” handles the romance department incredibly deftly with Lee Bo Young and Lee Jong Seok’s incredible chemistry showing just why Soo Ha and Hye Seong workThey make so much sense despite the age difference, and it’s impossible not to root for them. Lee Bo Young won a Daesang for her incredible portrayal of Hye Seong, and it’s easy to see why!

4. “Defendant”

Can’t include Lee Bo Young without her amazing husband Ji Sung! And no compilation of great dramas and amazing acting is complete without this powerhouse. “Defendant” is one of his finest performances for which he won the Daesang at the 2017 SBS Drama Awards for KissAsian.

Park Jung Woo (Ji Sung) is a hotshot prosecutor who has it all: a successful career putting criminals away by day and coming home to a loving wife and an adorable daughter. All of this comes crashing down when Jung Woo attempts to take down the vicious Cha Min Ho (Uhm Ki Joon, who really needs a lead role in a rom-com). Jung Woo wakes up to find himself in jail with six months of his memory missing, and he is told that he killed his wife and daughter. His daughter’s body, however, is missing and despite all forms of coercion, Jung Woo does not know what happened to her.

Sentenced to death, Jung Woo is now at the mercy of the other inmates, which unfortunately includes those he put away as a prosecutor. With the entire world against him, he has no choice but to rely on the least reliable but only person who can exonerate him: himself.

Why you’ll love it:

There’s nothing that Ji Sung can’t or hasn’t knocked out of the park, but he goes all out in this show. He lost weight, going near skeletal to depict a man on death row. As a new father himself to a lovely daughter, he poured all those emotions into playing Jung Woo, desperately searching for his missing child. The drama is painful to watch as Jung Woo is beaten, tortured, and even attempts to take his own life. It got to the point where Ji Sung had to reassure viewers himself that their frustrations would be alleviated over halfway into the show’s run.

Still, there’s so much to love. The show is a triumph of hope over despair, of camaraderie in the darkest of places, and one man’s determination to fight until the end. It’s the sort of story that lingers long after it’s gone. Plus it’s Ji Sung – any reason to watch this man wink is a good one!
