Here Are 5 Things To Think About When Choosing Video Editing Software

Add to your list(s) Send you e-mail reminders

We’ve reviewed many high-quality video editing programs in our quest for the best. It’s important to realize that not all users will find the best program. A professional video editor may need more power than someone who just wants to create a quick clip from footage taken on their last vacation. Professionals will prioritize editing power and advanced features. An amateur will choose a program with simple features such as a watermark editor and high efficiency. We’ve compiled a list with five important things to keep in mind when choosing the best video editing software. Remember that the best option for someone may not be the best for you. Keep an open mind.

  1. How you plan to use it

When choosing the best video editing program for you, the first and most important thing you should consider is what you will use it for. Different software is designed for different users. Choosing the right program will simplify your life. Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, is the most popular video editing program. However, it can be a bit expensive and may prove to be too much for some users. Although it has many advanced features and tools, if you are just looking for basic video editing software, they will be confusing. Wondershare is another favorite video editor. It is geared more toward amateur users who want to create a professional-looking video with the minimal amount of advanced tools Adobe provides. You need to understand the purpose of your editing software and select the right program.

  1. You will need the editing tools you require

Different video editing programs have different features. Prior to choosing a program, take the time to list the most important features. It will be easier to narrow down your choices, especially if you require specific editing tools. Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, has advanced tools that can be used by professionals. It could be a great choice if you plan to spend significant time fine-tuning each aspect of your video project. Wondershare UniConverter is a more affordable program that offers more advanced features. It isn’t necessarily bad, however, because it still has tools like an AI styling plugins and a project previewer.

  1. Check whether your computer can run the program

Video editing software can only be run on very powerful computers. You will need to be aware of the requirements for the various programs you are considering if you don’t own a powerful computer. Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, has extremely high system requirements. You should have at least 16GB RAM , Microsoft Windows 10 version 1809 or higher, 4GB GPU VRAM and high-speed SSD storage. Most computers do not meet these requirements and will therefore not run the program well, or at all in certain cases. There are many video editing programs that require less system requirements. You will almost certainly encounter performance issues if you don’t choose the right program.

  1. You will need the following video input formats

The format of your raw video files is an important consideration. You need to ensure that you select the right editing program for you. Not all editing programs support all formats. Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, claims to be able to edit video in all formats, even 8k. Any file can be imported and converted between formats when you use the compress video feature. Many programs do not support editing beyond 4k resolution or less. This is still sufficient for most users. However, some users have a narrower range of video input formats.

  1. The software price and your budget

When choosing a video editing software, remember to consider your budget and overall goals. You don’t need expensive software if you are just looking to create a quick video for entertainment. Many free programs are available, which include more advanced editing tools than the average editor. Lightworks and Hitfilm Express, for example, are free and can open most file types. They also come with advanced editing tools. Professional programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro are more expensive, and can be licensed for hundreds to thousands of dollars per year.
